You're My Top Dog

As promised, I'm back with card 2 for my DH.
This one is from the dogs...

This is as CAS as it can be, which is totally not my style.  However, this beautiful stamp is so stunning that I did not want to overshadow it with embellishments! I used Spellbinders Labels #4 to cut out the image which is from Inky Antics by the Shady Tree Studio.  It comes in a set with 3 sentiments and a cat/bird scene, as well.  I am in love with the beauty of this stamp and there is a story there.

Our sweet Schmitzy that we lost just before Thanksgiving had a love/hate relationship with tortoises.  So much so that my DH bought me a tortoise charm necklace for Christmas in memory of our dear boy.  Schmitzy would find them in the woods, even when deeply hidden amongst leaves and brush.  He would then pick one up and carry it around, all the while growling.  I would take it away from him and go hide it in another part of the woods.  N.o tortoises were ever harmed other than frightened by their ride in my dog's mouth.  One particular one had been marked with nail polish by someone and this one came back repeatedly!  So when I saw this stamp set, I knew I had to have it!  What is really cool is that I won this set!!!  Anyway, this will be to Glenn from Sammie, Geena Bea and Abigail.

I am entering the following challenges:

Time Out - birthday with optional masculine twist
Tok Bobok -CAS
Simon Says Stamp - animal antics
Crafting Musketeers - monochrome

That's it for now.  Thanks for stopping by!

For You

Not too bad...I skipped yesterday but am back today!
As promised, a BD card for the DH.

I experimented with my new TE sunburst die.  It was a little more difficult to work with than I had imagined.  We are both really excited about this baseball season, so I used some stash baseball dp.  I picked up the For You stamp when Margaret and I were in New York at The Ink Pad (PC).  That was back when we were first getting started in stamping and we went berzerk!  I think we each spent about $300!!!  We were in there for hours and famished by the time we were through.  We stopped at the first place we could find to eat and that turned out to be a good choice, considering our minds were mush by that point!  I've used this stamp a lot.  I like the marquee look to it.  I used punches and foam tape to make it stand out.

On the inside I used an Inkadinkado stamp by Dawn Houser to go along with my baseball theme: How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are? - Satchel Paige

I am entering the following challenges:

Time Out - birthday with optional male twist
Cut it Up - must use diecuts, birthday
The Crafting Cafe - One for the Boys

Thanks for stopping by.  I have another birthday card to share tomorrow.

Wish Big!

Hi Everyone!
I cannot believe I haven't posted since January 31!   Thank goodness for Margaret, who was able to post here and there.  So much has happened in the last 11 weeks, the majority of it not so good.  I know Margaret told you a couple of things - my good friend being diagnosed with inoperable, incurable cancer and my sweet Sadie, who was 16, had to be put to sleep on February 25, 2014.  She was my first agility dog and helped me get through all the bad times that happened in her lifetime.  She was so sensitive.  She was also quite funny.

One day she just decided to crawl into the toy basket with all her stuffed animals.  She was a hoot and I miss her so very much.  The good news is that my friend is doing quite well right now, undergoing chemo, and her doc is very pleased with her progress, yea!  I also resigned my DT position with Aud Sentiments because I was just overwhelmed with life at the time.  They were so gracious with me and I appreciate their kindness since I had recently agreed to another term and then needed to resign.  They are great ladies, please stop by and visit that challenge!

Okay, on to the card.  This is the first card I have made in all these months.  Margaret's lovely youngest daughter just had her 13th birthday and I am sending a belated card (and gift card).  Shame on me!!!  But she is a good kid and understands.  My dogs love her!

I must say, I went all out and used all kinds of supplies!  Here's a list:

sponged color on the bunnies, fussy cut Ms. Anya, paper-piecing,

then created a step fold base card using the video at Technique Time Tuesday.

My tip for Tip Top Tuesday: using lots of die cuts is an easy way to put a scene together.

I am going to enter this in the following challenges:

Technique Time Tuesday - step fold card
The Paper Girls - card for a 13yo birthday girl!!!
Party Time Tuesday - die cut party {i used almost a dozen!}
Tip Top Tuesday - paper-piecing
Try it on Tuesday - more than one fold

I  must say, it's good to be back at the table again and I think I was inspired to go big since this card is late.  Hopefully she will think it was worth waiting for!!!  Thanks for stopping by.  I am going to try to be more regular in posting.  My DH has a birthday on Saturday, so I am guaranteed to be back before then!!!
