Hi everybody!
It's that time again. My card for the Aud Sentiments DT is ready to share with the world, ha!
My digi image comes from QKR Stampede this challenge.
I used a technique called "spotlighting" where you color only a portion of an image and mount that on top of the complete image. I chose to highlight the little girl. I was amazed at the number of Copics I used for that 1 inch circle!!!
I used Spellbinders dies to cut out the image and the ornaments that the sentiments are mounted on. I used EK punches for all the circles. I added flourishes to the opposite corners and rhinestones to the sentiments. I think the bg dp paper was from Basic Grey (the pad isn't a pad anymore, just scraps!).
I'm on my way to meeting my Christmas card needs for 2014 by getting started in January instead of November!!! Yea!!!
I am entering the following challenges:
Pumpkin Spice - Buttons, bows or bling
My Perfect Life - Christmas
One Stitch at a Time - use a digi
Thanks for stopping by!

Now 'Spotlighting' is not a technique that I'm very familiar with Kathy but you really have shown it to great effect in this great Christmas card. Highlighting the little girl with your beautiful colouring then using such lovely papers and shiny flourishes you have really shown the magic of Christmas that we wish all children to experience.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this lovely card in our challenge this week. Ingrid xx ( OSAAT Team )

This is a really effective technique and I love your use of red and the bling flourishes. Well done for getting started on your Christmas cards. If you do one a week, you'll have another 46 by early December! Thanks a lot for joining in with my Festive 48. Hope you can link up again next week. Marina
ReplyDeleteVery unusual and beautifully created card Kathy, love the spotlighting technique, funny, use it in photography and never thought of using it in card making :) :) :) Great originality with this creation hun :) Good luck in this weeks OSAAT challenge. Hugs Jane OSAAT DT
ReplyDeleteOh I do love this...what a wonderful technique...I'm gonna have to give it a try too. Looks just lovely !!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at One Stitch at a Time this week. Good luck. Hope to see you again soon.

Once again I learn something new from you…it's a great idea to use this technique on an image that is as intricate as this one. Nicely done…particularly all those jewels. Never did get the hang of that. The coloring on her hair is AWESOME!
